Bird of Paradise, Caesalpinia gilliesii, is a beautiful flowering tree/shrub that thrives in the desert sun and is drought tolerant. Caesalpinia gilliesii has fern-like leaves and is beloved for it's exotic flowers that attract hummingbirds.
Not to be confused with similarly named Mexican Bird of Paradise bush or the Yellow Mexican Bird of Paradise tree.
This plant is frost hardy in zones 7 and above and can grow 8-10 feet tall with similar spread.
