Ellen's Garden Pink Cosmos packet of 30
Ellen's Garden Pink Cosmos
An incredibly beautiful and delicate Cosmos that looks like it grew in a fairy tale. Frilled and scalloped blooms open hot pink and transition to a bi-color pink and white after a couple days. Bushy and lush plants grow 3 - 4 feet tall. Ellen's Garden Pink Cosmos are an annual flower that will reseed in areas where they are happy.
Sow Cosmos: Sow cosmos seeds in cell packs or flats, 4 to 6 weeks before transplanting into the garden. Kept at 70 to 85° F., seedlings emerge in 7 to 21 days. Can direct sow cosmos after all danger of frost into prepared seed beds in rows, 4-6 seeds per foot. Thin seedlings to 18 inches apart. A less efficient but easier method of sowing cosmos: scatter seeds. Rake seeds into soil, keep area moist until germination.
Grow Cosmos: Full sun. Best flower production is in soils of average fertility with moderate water. Cosmos tolerate heat, drought, and poor soil. Remove spent blooms to promote additional flowers. Cosmos will usually self-sow if some spent blossoms are kept on plants. Cut flowers typically last 5 to 9 days when blooms are cut as petals unfold. Flowers fully open in vase. Cosmos attract birds, bees and butterflies and are rarely bothered by pests or disease.
*Please Note* Because our seeds are harvested by hand, without the use of machines, a small amount of plant matter may be present in the seed packets.
These Cosmos are named after Ellen Dixon who graciously donated seeds from her garden to Dry Heat Gardens.
